Transform: For Summer

By Jo Phillips

Summer has officially begun, so it is time to put away your winter clothes and get ready for the British barbeques, garden parties, and cocktail gatherings we have all been patiently waiting for. Deciding what to wear can become tedious at times, so here are five outfit ideas to get you started out.

Playful playsuits:

If you are in a rush to pick an outfit out, a playsuit is the perfect solution to your problem. Whether you choose one with pompoms, frills or even one that is tailored with structure, they’re versatile and practical, and with almost 1,000 styles currently available at ASOS, there’s plenty of variety too.

Festival trousers

If you prefer bohemian to haute couture, then printed trousers will be a wardrobe essential for you this summer. Take inspiration from fashion blogger Lucy Williams: her outfits are often very casual and down to earth, and are easily imitated following a few simple tips. Select a pair of festival trousers in either a tribal or floral print and pair them with a basic cotton t-shirt, then add some mismatched jewellery and you are ready to go.

Masculine jackets

The ‘borrowed from the boys’ trends have been constantly reappearing in fashion over the years, so why not reach out to your masculine side by pairing an oversized boyfriend jacket with a girly dress and heels, creating the perfect contrast. Check out some men’s jackets from Superdry they will be ideal for when the temperature begins to lower in the evening as the sun goes down.

Sophisticated shorts

Shorts are a summer essential, designed to keep you cool and help your legs achieve that much needed bronzing after a long, cold winter. When wearing shorts to a party, opt for distressed denim and a crisp white blouse for a more sophisticated approach. Or, wear a tailored pair to make your outfit more suitable for a cocktail hour in an up-market bar.

Killer kimonos

Finally, why not try a kimono? They come in a variety of colours and prints and can be used for a number of different occasions. You can dress yours up with a pair of black skinny jeans, stiletto heels and a sleek top knot, or you can dress down by wearing one over your standard shorts and sandals combination.
