Foundation:Tuesday Tunes on the Go

By Jo Phillips

For today’s Tuesday Tunes, we are loving the Swedish/ Barbadian R&B soulstress Naomi Pilgrim and her new single ‘Racist Friend’, which features an all female international hip-hop cast, comprising of the rappers Sa-Roc and Yugen Blakrok. It’s a stirring rework of The Specials’ 1983 anthem and the song is reinvigorated by the dark, dubby bassline crafted by Swedish producer Embee. The fiery flows of Sa-Roc and Yugen Blakrok, alongside the soulful coo of Naomi Pilgrim, deliver a hard-hitting message to racists across the world today. ‘Racist Friend’ is Naomi’s latest single through leading Scandinavian label Cosmos Music, and follows the release of two EPs, her self-titled 2014 debut and last year’s Sink Like A Stone.
