XXL: Size Matters

Whether it’s the largest watch your wrist has ever attempted to hold or the tallest tongues on a ponyskin hi-top sneaker, this Winter is all about size and going large. Earlier this year we saw the release of Diesel’s Grand Daddy watch – incidentally the world’s largest and also limited to a 1000 pieces. Here we have the ever so slighter Mr Daddy timepiece  that’s still big enough to feature four different watches on the facet. Oversized knits are obviously great for the cold season and this Saint Laurent piece makes a bold retro statement. If we’re talking trends, it’s very much about the parka at the moment and this beast – despite the picture’s injustice – could fit a small couple in it no problem. A chunky belt and a pair of statement sunglasses wouldn’t go amiss either and these options from Superdry and AM Eyewear has our thumbs up.

In other sizeable news, London Collections: Men is just around the corner [starting January 6th] and emerging designer Joseph Turvey has collaborated with River Island on a capsule collection and a film that will be screened at the event. You may have already spotted one of the designer’s statement looks in our latest fashion film for the Heartbeat Issue: Hot House Flowers. He certainly went XXL on print and colour there and we’re very much looking forward to seeing what he has in store for us for AW14.
