Established in 1996 by twin brothers Dean and Dan Caten, Dsquared2 is a luxury fashion label combining Italian craftsmanship with Canadian casual wear and a real sense of fun.
The brand’s signature ‘Icon’ slogan can be found slashed across tops and t-shirts, logo-emblazoned hoodies and sweatshirts with spray paint logos as well as jumpers with bold graphics including the iconic Canadian maple leaf and flag emblems.
Also emblazoned on accessories from bags, and shoes to umbrellas now they have named a perfume collection with this enigmatic word. Explore two new scents from the Canadian twins that shake up our expectations.
There is a female and male version of each. The white bottle contains the feminine scent whilst the back holds the masculine version. Both open brightly but are very different in their energetic response.
The white bottled fragrance (with bold black writing) Icon pour Femme opens with zestiness, alive and vivid where sun-kissed citrus notes intertwine with the invigorating warmth of Pink Pepper; Energetic, alive and vital.
Its heart melds into a surprise where sweetness meets floral moving the scent into a softer energy. Fine regal Jasmine here with a gourmand Praline note.
By the time it settles in its base find an enveloping aroma of Sandalwood, Musk, creamy Vanilla, and the woody depth of Ash for a floral, fruity, and ambery vibe. Giving the complete scent of a wrapped-up cosiness
The Fougere fragrance for men, Icon Pour Homme, in a black bottle with white writing, also opens with a zesty top here of warm zinging Ginger and sparkling Citrus; Bright, fresh and vigorous.
Yet again its middle surprises and delights with the aromatic clean Clary Sage, alongside that green sweet woody-powdery note of Lavender, a green rose-like facet from Geranium and a rare Black Tulip, all bring a deeper floral flourish.
Its finale; all warm and comforting yet bold and strong. The heat and cosiness of woods from both Akigalawood and Cedarwood. With them a rich earthy almost soft smoke of Patchouli.
Both these sister and brother scents have strong foundations and surprisingly bright openings. Both go from a ‘high to a low’, from bright to dark, as if every facet of the wearer is explored.
Although combined of very different notes both contain the same energy and sense of exploration, without having to be ‘samey’. Both are delicious.
