A Later Easter

This year, Easter will be almost 2 weeks later than it was in 2021. Good Friday will be on Friday, April 15th followed by Easter Saturday on the 16th, Easter Sunday on the 17th and Easter Monday on the 18th. Most school holidays will begin on Monday, April the 4th and reopen from Tuesday, April 19th directly after Easter weekend.

How to Maximize the Break

Easter is a great holiday because you get the Friday and Monday off of work, but what annual leave can you take to really make the most out of the holiday? You can enjoy 10 days off with just 4 days of annual leave by taking off the 19th, 20th, 21st and 22nd taking you into the weekend. If you do not have kids, you will find that everywhere would be much quieter after Easter as well so this could be a relaxing break particularly if the weather is nice.

Why Do We Celebrate Easter?

Easter is a Christian holiday but one that many people around the world enjoy. It is one of the most important periods in the Christian calendar celebrating the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. According to the bible, Jesus was executed by crucifixion on Good Friday and resurrected the following Sunday. Much like Christmas, there are many traditions and ways that Easter weekend are celebrated around the world.

In the UK, eggs are a major theme during Easter celebrations with Easter eggs, egg hunts and painting eggshells. This is because the egg symbolises life – a major theme in Easter celebrations.

What Foods Are Eaten?

Following on from this, food is also a major part of the Easter holidays. Easter eggs are the most obvious type of food and it is common to gift chocolate eggs to loved ones and you can buy all kinds of beautiful and delicious Easter eggs online. Other common foods include hot cross buns and roast lamb, which is the main Jewish dish at Passover and traditional for the main meal on Easter Sunday.
