James Straffon for UE Boom:
Graffiti artist James Straffon – a bit of a name in the cycling and art worlds nonetheless, teamed up with cult speaker brand UE Boom (those handy wireless, bluetooth canister style speakers you may see at the homes of the well-informed, and gadget lovers) to create a number of one-off customised pieces of art, including these fab speakers (below) at the launch of Velorution – a new cycling concept store.
Straffon’s creations owe much to the obsessive eye of the collector. His appreciation of the erstwhile and endangered media such as; the printed paper form, letterpress typography, film-shot photography, hand-painted objects and the forgotten allure of scrapbook assemblage, Straffon created a number of cutting edge, street inspired art for UE Boom. Introduced in 2013, UE BOOM has won four prestigious design awards, and is continuously evolving with industry-defining features, such as alarm functionality, custom tuning and two-speaker pairing – the Double Up feature – delivered through software updates. Built to withstand the rigors of life, UE BOOM has a cylindrical shape that blasts bold 360-degree sound, and it features a water- and stain-resistant acoustic skin and up to 15 hours of battery life.
Delfina Dettez for Fendi Furiosa:
Jewellery designer, and fourth generation Fendi family, Delfina Delettrez designed this stunning bottle to house Fendi’s newest fragrance, Furiosa. Complete with gemstone inspired facets representing Delfina’s heritage in design, Furiosa is a typical reflection of Italian’s attitude to life – sensual, uplifting, statement making and strong. Apparently – it’s known as the Essence of Wild Femininity and we think this is pretty bang on, given the inclusion of Violacciocca flower, Jasmine absolute, pink peppercorn, Gaiac wood and Bergamot amongst other notes. This is an exclusive to Harrods, so excuse me while I get my coat..
